Our Work
The Covid-19 pandemic led to a significant loss of earnings for sex workers in India. This, in turn, worsened their and their children's lack of access to food, shelter, healthcare, and education in the country.
At Krishnaa Foundation, we stood by these women and children during the dark days of the pandemic and have continued to help them in times of crises, such as the recent Malaria and Dengue epidemic in August-October 2022.
We provide them with educational support for their children, medical services, such as telemedicine sessions, and we help them receive any other support they need.
Healthcare
After conducting several medical camps in 2022, and organizing blood tests, providing thermometers and medicines during a severe outbreak of Malaria and Dengue in the community, Krishnaa Foundation has now set up a permanent medical clinic in the area.
Krishnaa Foundation has partnered with DocOnline to provide regular medical consultations and treatments via telemedicine.

Education Drive
In 2021 and 2022, Krishnaa Foundation provided educational support to children of sex-workers by providing them with notebooks, pencils and books.
In June 2023, Krishnaa Foundation hired teachers to conduct daily tutorial classes for the elementary and middle school students there. Besides providing assistance with their schoolwork, the teachers also conduct art classes. We intend to expand these activities in the future.

From late 2020 through mid-2022, Krishnaa Foundation provided about 250 sex-workers in Kalighat and their families a monthly supply of food rations and other necessities for basic health.
This was during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, when the sex-workers and their children were literally starving. At times when fuel was scarce, cooked food was also provided.
