Our Journey
The Covid-19 pandemic led to a significant loss of earnings for sex workers in India. This, in turn, further worsened their and their children's lack of access to food, shelter, healthcare, and education in the country. During this time, we supported the sex-worker community by providing food and essential supplies to those most affected. Since then, our work has evolved.
2021
We expanded our efforts to offer regular food rations, daily necessities, and school supplies to approximately 250 women and their children.
2022
We began organizing medical camps, offering access to consultations with doctors for diagnoses and treatments. We also provided emergency relief during outbreaks of diseases, such as dengue and malaria.
2023
We reached a significant milestone by securing a designated space of our own. In this new location, we hosted regular tuition classes four days a week for the children of sex workers and ensured access to nutritional meals in every session. We conducted ongoing medical drives to screen for critical health risks, such as cervical cancer, and provided referrals for further treatment. We also established a consistent medical clinic staffed with an on-site nurse four days a week, with telemedicine consultations through DocOnline available for diagnoses, treatments, and prescriptions.
2024
We further strengthened our programs by introducing computer and digital literacy classes for senior students, empowering them with skills for the future.
2025
We moved into a new, larger space that will allow us to conduct all of our projects in one location, providing a more structured and professional environment for our staff, volunteers, and community members. We also expanded our digital literacy program, adding multiple new computers and expanding training classes from twice a week to three times a week.
